Hi, yall! I’m socialanxietyandart, otherwise known as Liz (b. 1983).
Previously known as The Pop Art Girl… and probably many iterations before that.
I’m a professional artist, full-time student, and full-time blatherer on social media.
I’ve been a professional artist since 2009 when I shipped a few watercolor nudes out to California, never to hear from my first collector since.
I’ve gone through many phases as an artist. From my start with watercolor nudes, to wall-sized fantasy oil paintings, to acrylic pop art (my longest phase), and now I sort of paint whatever I want in whatever medium I want.
I have had a handful of solo exhibits in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Los Angeles, California. I have also participated many group shows in Nashville, Tennessee and Los Angeles, California. My art has been purchased from collectors all over the world.
I prefer to work with oil paints for their flexibility and texture, but I also like acrylic for its quick drying time and opacity.
Before the COVID pandemic, I started going back to college. (Slowly, because I still have teenagers at home.) I’ve switched majors several times. I’m currently an English Major, but most of my extracurricular courses are in the sciences.
Shortly after the COVID shutdown I was diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, and anxiety. So, I am moving through the world much differently than I did in 2009 when I first started my professional artist journey. I’m giving myself grace and not putting pressure on myself to sell, sell, sell. But, speaking of selling, anything sold from my shop goes to support my education.
I’m so grateful that I have this outlet and even more grateful that people can connect with me through it.
